2011 Calendar

In total last year we received over 60 pictures of cats rehomed in the Worthing & District area and a shortlist of those were on display at our Summer Fete & Homing Show in August. The favourites selected on that day were then put together for the calendar.

If your cat was not selected for 2010 we’re sorry but now is the time to get your cameras out again and help us to design the 2011 calendar.

This is not a competition to decide the best photographs as such. We are seeking a variety of photos covering the seasons of the year, and we will select photos which are of high quality, attractive and which present a good balance. Naturally, we don’t produce the calendar ourselves, we are in the hands of the publisher and we hope the following guidelines will therefore be helpful:

·    Digital photos only and they must be sent to us in JPEG format;

·    Pictures should be sent full size and not reduced, and in landscape say that your picture must he in sharp contrast when expanded to full screen size on your computer;

·    Pictures should be sent full size and not reduced, and in landscape format only (downloading of large files is not a problem);

·    Ideally, pictures should not be cropped. If a specific part of a picture is not wanted, leave it in but explain that it needs removal, e.g. a bag of cat litter;

·    Pictures from mobile phones will NOT be good enough quality;

·    Please select your best picture, do not send several of the same cat;

·    Pictures with an obvious seasonal connection are very useful for selection purposes, e.g. cat basking in the sun, or playing in the fallen leaves;

·    Brief notes about your cat are welcome, but should be brief e.g. ‘4 year old cat, adopted as a kitten, now terrorizes the neighborhood, but loves having his tummy rubbed,’ is quite sufficient.

We look forward to receiving your digital photos as soon as you can, although we regret we won’t be able to communicate with you about them or discuss eventual selection.

Although we will be trying to use pictures of cats we have not used previously please do not hold back from submitting your pictures just because they have been previous ‘stars’.

It is our intention to try and provide a short list of possible pictures at our Summer Fete and Homing Show again so make a note of the date (Sunday 22 August), now!
